Michael King is a Canadian painter and art instructor who specializes in oil painting with a focus on plein air (outdoor) painting which guides his larger studio works. Always looking for how shadow and colour temperature shape a scene, he combines representational elements with an Impressionistic style. His paintings strike a balance between realistic observation and abstract interpretation resulting in a unique and captivating aesthetic.

My creative process involves painting over a prolonged duration, either in my studio from life or directly when I'm outdoors in the landscape. This approach grants me the advantage of time, enabling me to observe and identify the delicate variations in light that offer more than a mere momentary glimpse. For me, it's akin to experiencing time itself.
