Artist Statement/Bio
Yvette grew up in Squamish BC. She finds creating a successful painting is similar to setting life goals. First you have a vision, then you block it out and break it down into doable steps. Nature and curiosity are constant inspirations.
Yvette Cuthbert is a strong believer in the strengths of creativity in all aspects of life, looking at things differently is a skill everyone should develop in this fast-changing world.
Using mainly red and white, like our Canadian flag for Canada’s 150th birthday she created 150 paintings of Canada. She had an exhibit of large rainforest paintings last year in Manitoba.
She is mainly an acrylic painter and photographer, but has tried her hand at free form concrete sculptures, copper etching, lino cutting/printing, shibori japanese dyeing, bleach art on clothing, hand building in clay, fused glass, sketching, murals and more.
